Johan Ingler was always driven by his creative side. From as far back as he can remember, he wrote stories and comics, shot his own films with friends and (reluctant) younger sister, and tormented his neighborhood with his own musical compositions. None of this creative drive faded in time, it only grew.
After first pursuing ambitions of music, studying at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Johan Ingler transitioned from being a full-time musician into the world of movies by working in film distribution and sales in his native Stockholm, and as an assistant on set of film and TV productions. When his creative urge and sense of adventure itched too much, he moved back to the US to study screenwriting at UCLA Extension, winning the school’s feature film screenwriting competition, as well as winning best family film at The Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest. Meanwhile, he worked as Head of Development at Reverse Engineering Studios, a Los Angeles production and management company.
Johan has since been a full-time screenwriter, as a freelancer with assignments in the US and in Europe; as part of Zoho Studio, a Dutch animation company; and as co-founder of Dark Roast Features, a Belgian genre film label. He also puts his pen to prose, with a middle-grade novel in his bag of stories, and still picks up his guitar when he needs a fresh boost of inspiration.
