Heidi Amsinck is a London-based former broadsheet journalist and corporate storyteller turned novelist. Heidi holds a BA in Journalism and an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck, University of London, and is a former Fellow of the US World Press Institute. Born in Denmark, she has lived most of her adult life in the UK and writes in English. As an author, Heidi has written five titles in the 100 000 copy bestselling Jensen series, in addition to penning numerous short stories for BBC Radio 4. Heidi is now a full-time writer, living in London, with two grown-up sons.

Growing up in Denmark, Heidi was obsessed with dark and twisted tales such as the stories of Edgar Allan Poe and Roald Dahl. Like Jensen, the protagonist of her bestselling Copenhagen-set crime series, Heidi spent many years covering British news for Danish readers as a reporter. Unlike Jensen, however, she never returned home.

My Name is Jensen, Heidi’s first novel which was awarded the Danish Crime Academy’s Debut Award in 2023, was published in the UK in 2021. It was followed by a further four books in the Jensen series, all published to great acclaim. Translated from English, the Jensen series is also published in Denmark, where the books have sold 100 000 copies.

From 2010 to 2024, she worked for Standard Chartered, latterly as Global Head of Story Lab, and is now a full-time author. When not writing or reading crime fiction, Heidi is a frequent guest at literary festivals where she often moderates panels and is a commentator on crime fiction.
