ASTRID MOHLIN

Astrid Mohlin specializes in humour, young adult, and drama. Her trademarks are character driven stories with a witty yet realistic dialogue. Astrid has created several shows for SR, like their Christmas calendar from 2023, and premiered as a tv-writer on FLX’s hit show Solsidan, also in 2023.

Early in her career, Astrid was at Nickelodeon, where she worked with scripts for dubbing, a job that taught her a lot about writing for kids. She then moved on to Swedish Radio (SR), where she has written, produced, and directed multiple shows. Her tone lies somewhere between the goofy and crazy at Nickelodeon and the more classical storytelling at SR.

When writing for young adults, one of the hardest things are to understand, but not underestimate, your audience. For Astrid, a key factor to achieve this, is research. Before creating the podcast series Fake – which was such a big success that it will also be published as a book by Bonnier Carlsen – she interviewed over 300 school kids, as well as travelling to Norway to meet the creators behind the tv-series Skam to discuss methods.

Her meticulous methods combined with an intuitive sense of humour has made Astrid a household name in the world of radio drama, which is apparent when you look at her resume. That sense of humour is also what lead her to being hired by FLX to write an episode on their hit show Solsidan, a dream job for any comedy writer in Sweden.

Astrid also runs the production company Broken Dreams and is currently developing several original ideas for both tv and radio.  She has studied radio and screenwriting at Stockholm University of the Arts (Stockholms konstnärliga högskola).
