Sara Nameth

Sara Nameth is a Swedish-American screenwriter based in Stockholm.
After working at a London advertising agency, Sara transitioned into film and television writing. Her feature debut, The Yard (2016), directed by Måns Månsson, opened the Göteborg Film Festival and premiered internationally at the Berlinale (Forum). The screenplay earned a Guldbagge Award nomination, while the film won three Guldbagge Awards, including Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Since then, Sara has developed film and television projects for several of Scandinavia’s leading production companies, including Nordisk Film Denmark/Sweden, Filmlance, B-Reel Films, Unlimited Stories, Mylla, Rainy Days, Media Res, and Garagefilm.
She has collaborated with writers and directors such as Frank Spotnitz, May el-Toukhy, Maren Louise Käehne, Jesper Ganslandt, Jonatan Etzler, and Ronnie Sandahl, as well as producers Mikael Rieks, Patrik Andersson, and Piodor Gustafsson.
Alongside screenwriting, Sara works as a script consultant and Swedish-to-English translator. Her translation credits include Roy Andersson’s Golden Lion-winning A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence.
As a freelance copywriter, she has written international commercials for clients including Samsung and Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Sara studied film theory at the University of St Andrews and holds a master’s degree in social anthropology from the University of Oxford.
She is currently developing a feature film with support from the Swedish Film Institute and co-writing a television series scheduled for production in 2027.
