Helén Wigh was born and raised in Persberg, a small mining town located in the remote forests of VärmlandSince 2004, she lives in Karlstad with her family, and is now a full-time author after having worked as a teacher for 17 years. She is currently writing the first instalment in the forthcoming Hanna Keller-series (Forum, 2027).

With the breakout Hanna Keller-series, which is publishing at Bokförlaget Forum in 2027, Helén is adding something new and fresh to the Scandinavian suspense genre.  ‘It’s really exciting to come up with something new in the crime genre that adds suspense to the mix in a unique way’, she says about her new trilogy. With the Hanna Keller series, the author is taking a huge leap forward in her authorship, not just moving to a new publisher, but entering a new genre and being presented internationally for the first time.

Helén debuted with the historical suspense novel Järnmärkt (Historiska Media, 2021), praised by readers and critics alike, which was followed by more books in the historical suspense genre. Helén comes from a large family with a strong tradition of storytelling. In addition to writing suspense, Helén always aims to share this love for reading and writing with children and young adults; through speaking engagements in schools she has met hundreds of students, from pre-school to high school, where she highlights the magic of storytelling. Helén is also a cultural tour guide in the historic mining area of Högberget, where she grew up. With several generations of miners in her family, she wants to bring the past to life by inviting people to know more about how life was really like for the mining families at the time.

In 2023, Helén was named Filipstad Municipality’s Cultural Profile, and later he same year she received the Ferlin Scholarship. In 2024, Helén was appointed Filipstad’s ambassador, a tradition carried in the town out since 1991.
