Helmi is a highly productive screenwriter with a sharp funny bone and extensive experience in script development, both from the writer’s room and the broadcaster’s perspective.
Comfortable across genres and formats, Helmi is known for her versatility and collaborative mindset. She thrives in group settings and firmly believes that stronger scripts emerge when more minds are involved.
Alongside her writing, Helmi has spent the past five years working part-time as a Development Executive Producer at TV4, where she leads the development of other writers’ projects. This dual perspective gives her a rare combination of creative instinct and structural precision.
With one foot in Finland and the other in Sweden, Helmi has studied and worked in both countries (see selected credits below). Her minority background and upbringing have deeply shaped her artistic voice and the stories she gravitates toward.
Her own projects often explore themes of alienation and identity, examining uncomfortable social dynamics through bruised, imperfect characters searching for their place in the world. The tone frequently leans toward the tragicomic. Helmi writes warm, emotionally grounded stories with a dose of subtle absurdity.
Whether writing her own material or developing that of others, Helmi brings a strong sense of structure, tonal confidence, and a deep sensitivity to her stories.
