THE CHRISTMAS STAR (JULSTJÄRNAN)
Sara B. Elfgren & Johan Egerkrans
In late November, it began to snow. White flakes fell over the large forest, gathered on the branches of fir trees, weighing them down, and burying the little forest ranger’s cottage.
The forest ranger’s fourth child has just entered the world. The older siblings, Anders, Stina and Little Marta, are worried. The little one is tiny and weak. How will he make it through this harsh winter?
One dark, cold night, a little star falls from the sky. The star spreads warmth and becomes friends with the siblings. But an evil wizard, Corvius Craxus, wants to capture Star.
Soon, Anders, Stina and Little Martha find themselves far from the forest ranger’s cottage, in the land East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Will they be able to save their friend Star from the wizard’s clutches. And how will they get home in time for Christmas?
In The Christmas Star, the reader gets to come along on a breathtaking journey and meet a rhyming giant and his giant goat, whimsical mirror images and a mysterious, snow-white fox. A magical Christmas tale for the whole family by fantasy masters Sara B. Elfgren and Johan Egerkrans.

REVIEWS
“The Christmas Star is a truly magical Christmas tale […] Wizards and witches may pose threats, as do cold and poverty. But the stars are dancing in the sky, and the light shines warmly in the cottage for those who come home. Could one wish for more from a Christmas book?”
Dagens Nyheter / SWE
“The atmosphere is soaked in winter and mystery and should last at least to the end of January, and the book can be read and reread during years to come, with its fine-tuned tone of the olden days that never feels anachronistic. […] Pure magic, in many ways.”
Göteborgs-Posten / SWE
“The language is lively and engaging, designed to captivate young readers. There is also a warm tone throughout. The illustrations are carefully crafted with an eye for detail and, in some cases, are dramatic in a way that creates a breathtaking sensation. The interplay between text and image works excellently. The underlying message is a classic one: humans live in relation to their surroundings, and what you send out, you get back. The Christmas Star is a well-thought-out and beautiful calendar book that confidently guides the reader through the scary moments.” Rating: 4
