Mohlin nominated for Slangbellan

Congratulations Astrid MohlinFake is among the three nominated children’s titles nominated for the Slangbellan award, for best children’s book debut 2024.

The Slangbellan debut prize was initiated in 1998 by the children’s and young adult literature section, Bult, within the Swedish Writers’ Union. Purpose of the award is to highlight debut authors and encourage continued writing. The nominees are selected by a jury, and the winner is chosen by Bult’s board.

Motivation:
With exquisite sensitivity, Astrid Mohlin sweeps the reader into the lives of four young people, capturing an innocent prank that unfolds into gripping seriousness. The balance between friendship and the courage to speak up is portrayed with remarkable finesse. The reader’s loyalty to the various characters is constantly challenged, and there is no obvious hero. Just as in real life, the reader must navigate the twists and turns of teenage friendships.

The award ceremony will take place on the 9th of April, during the children’s book festival Litteralund

A huge congratulations to Astrid—fingers crossed!
