Film option rights for Blue Notes sold

We are happy and proud to announce that we have sold the film option rights to Anne Cathrine Bomann’s second novel Blue Notes, to the Montreal based production company Outsiders Films. It is set to become a feature film in French and is still in early stages of development.

Blue Notes, or En dehors de la Gamme, as it is called in the French edition (published by Édition La Peuplade), is Anne Cathrine Bomann’s second novel. A medical thriller about the discovery of the first pill for pathological grief, which lift themes like loneliness, sorrow and the healing power of love.

Outsiders Films is an award-winning Canadian production company based in Montreal. Their last feature, And the Birds Rained Down, based on the novel by Jocelyne Saucier, has been shown at film festivals all over the world, where it has received many accolades and awards.

Quote from Sarah Lévesque and François Péloquin, that will write the screenplay for the film

“We love films that sparks the mind, this is why we always initiate our project with a lot of depth, where truths unwind. This is exactly what Anne Cathrine Bomann’s novel offers: a story that is both rich and mysterious! It is from this inspiring universe that we wish to develop a screenplay that embodies our dearest values. The first step, which is the adaptation of the novel, is essential to create a unique cinematic experience, where suspense and reflection intertwine elegantly.”

Quote from Anne Cathrine Bomann

“For an author, of course, the books come first. I have dreamt about becoming an author since I was a child writing small stories in my notebooks, and when I got to hold my first published novel, I couldn’t believe it. But this; to potentially have a movie based on one of my books? Honestly, that too is a dream come true. I have already played most of the scenes of Blue Notes/En dehors de la gamme in my mind, and it will be fantastic to see them unfold on screen. After meeting the Canadian team from Outsiders Films, I am filled with confidence that the psychological, character driven story that I set out to write will truly come to live in their hands.”
