12 DAYS OF SUMMER (KOLLOKILLEN)

Johan Ehn

12 Days of Summer is the story of twelve-year-old somewhat introverted Robin, and his first time away at summer camp. There he becomes friends with Ludwig, who is a year older and clearly much more outgoing. He plays football, is on the swim team, and he has been to summer camp many times before.

Their friendship grows deeper and deeper over twelve eventful days, where Robin soon realizes that Ludwig probably means more to him than just a friend. But is Robin right in thinking his feelings might be reciprocated? There are so many mixed signals. Should he dare to tell Ludwig what he feels, or will he then risk ruining everything they have and fear being rejected?

REVIEWS

“In 12 Days of Summer we get to know twelve-year-old Robin Kowalski on his first summer camp, where he falls in love with one of the other participants – Ludvig. The love is reciprocated, the relationship grows slowly and is characterised by courage and warmth. It is beautiful. Johan Ehn is also skillful at capturing the settings and the moods, and you can really smell the bonfires and the barley straws stuck to your legs while you read.”
