Ana Porss lives in Stockholm, has studied writing at Lund University. She has been a teacher in German and Swedish language for many years, since 2021 she is a full-time author.
Ana’s greatest passion is storytelling, and she is driven by a curiosity for people´s inner selves. She writes novels based on real life stories where the characters not only portray themselves but also dramatizes their history in time.
A recurrent theme in Ana’s writing is human value in general and women’s value specifically. She blends fact with fiction and portrait people and their aspirations to live their lives to the best of their ability in the society they live in.
Ana has always loved fairy tales and mysteries and began writing when she heard the story of a relative who was sentenced to death in 1845 for taking the life of her newborn babies. Writing about this woman gave Ana an insight into how women used to live back in the old days, and over the years she has continued her research. She has done extensive research on the church’s power over society, about folklore in the 19th century and on women’s struggle for equality. She also dug into the story of a one particular woman who emigrated alone to America. The result of the massive research was the Patriarchy trilogy, three historical novels that takes place between the years 1813 and 1960 and is based on a real families history.
