Per Faxneld is a literary author and professor in History of Religions at Södertörn University. His debut novel will be published by Albert Bonniers Förlag in March 2026.
Per has previously published academic titles on the subject of occult teachings, among them the award-winning Satanic Feminism: Lucifer as the Liberator of Woman in Nineteenth-Century Culture (Oxford University Press, 2017), a collection of short-stories, and a guidebook to secret sights in Stockholm.
Per often appears in the media and has cooperated with museums such as Millesgården, Nobelmuseet, Liljevalchs, and Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City.
–What inspires your literary writing, Per?
“Folklore from northern Sweden, that my grandfather and other relatives used to tell me about. And all the peculiar persons and strange phenomena I encounter in my academic research!”
