Stipend to Eric Cullhed!
Eric Cullhed have been awarded a prize and stipend for the book THE PHILOSOPHY OF CRYING by none other than the Swedish Nobel Academy!
The Karin och Karl Ragnar Gierow Fund Stipend is awarded annually for “outstanding works in the field of literary studies”, with Eric one of three recipients 2026.
Eric Cullhed (1985) is a professor of Greek at Uppsala University and THE PHILOSOPHY OF CRYING is his trade debut and with the book he begins an exciting new chapter in his career. Alongside his work as an academic, he is setting out to write a number of books for a broad readership, each exploring a common aspect of the human experience through the combined lenses of cultural history, philosophy, psychology and science. This is the first of these books, and the start of a distinctive new body of work.
