John Willander Lambrell has a deep fascination with unsolved crimes and true crime stories, and one of the cases that has most profoundly impacted him is the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey, who was brutally killed in her family’s home on Christmas morning in 1996. This case, with its mysterious circumstances and extensive media attention, has become a significant source of inspiration for John’s writing and his first book, The One Who Knows, is based on the JonBenét Ramsey case.  The book became starting point for a planned series.

John is intrigued by how truth and myth intertwine in crime narratives and all the real crimes he has read about all served as inspiration for his books. What these cases share is intense media attention, police investigations that targeted the wrong suspects and leads, and a public quick to judge the innocent.

Although John consumed a great deal of books, films, and television from an early age, writing was not a lifelong passion. It was only later, driven by his interest in true crime that he began crafting fictional stories inspired by reality but with his own well-reasoned solutions. They all feature credible characters and complex investigations set in contemporary Swedish settings.

The Profiler Series, feature two central characters: Detective Inspector Monica Eurell and criminal profiler Benjamin Krantz. Monica is a seasoned and determined investigator, deeply nihilistic, with a profound distrust of people in general and men in particular.

Benjamin is a skilled profiler who places great value on not getting emotionally involved with people but rather seeing them for what they truly are, bestial, untrustworthy and capable of horrific acts. Together, Monica and Benjamin form a compelling duo that navigates the moral and psychological complexities of modern crime investigations.

One of John’s areas of focus is criminal profiling, a method developed by the FBI in the 1970s through the study of convicted violent offenders. John has studied this technique thoroughly and lets Benjamin Krantz embody his fascination within the stories. Profiling is not just an investigative tool but also a way to delve into the psyche and complex motives of perpetrators.

For John, writing is an opportunity to give voice to stories that might otherwise remain untold in the shadows of incomplete facts. He places great emphasis on research, criminal profiling, and quality, striving to avoid clichés and unfounded speculation. By immersing himself in legal documents, witness statements, and similar cases, he aims to offer his readers a convincing and engaging reading experience that presents plausible and well-founded solutions to real crimes.
