Gustav Tegby is a screenwriter, author and playwright with a fondness for everything that’s weird, supernatural and noir-ish. He has written more than thirty plays, that have been performed in Sweden, Finland and USA, and has experience of writing for both radio drama, film and TV.
Gustav was born and raised in Umeå in northern Sweden and has worked for ten years as a dramaturg at Riksteatern (The Swedish National Touring Theatre). He is a prolific plawright who has written for most of the big (and a lot of the small) theatres in Sweden. Some of his plays, like Ghosts & Zombies (Gengångare & Zombies) – a horror adaptation of Henric Ibsen’s classic Ghosts – have been produced abroad.
Among Gustav’s big hits is the play Everybody Loves Bernie Madoff (Alla älskar Bernie Madoff ), that has been produced three times and that was later televised.
In addition to theatre, Gustav has worked a lot with radio. He was one of the writers of the hit thriller mockumentary Voices of the Dead (De dödas röster), and one of the creators and writers of the 2017 radio Christmas series A Winter Nightmare (Marvinter).
Gustav is also an acclaimed author. His books have been nominated for several awards, e.g. the Swedish Crimetime Award and The Prisma Award for hbtqi+ literature.
