Eleonore Holmgren enjoyed writing stories from a young age, and when she got a part-time job as a freelance reporter for a local newspaper, at the age of 15, she was trained in the art of writing by her older colleagues. This marked the beginning of a long professional career in communication and marketing.
However, her dreams of becoming an author came later in life, and her debut novel, The Last Summer, was primarily intended as a fun and joyful project for herself. Eleonore wanted to find out if she had what it took to write an entire book and was also curious to see how she would write if she did it entirely on her own terms, without the constraints that came with her work. Once the first book was completed, she knew she wanted to continue writing books, but the idea of creating an entire series about the people of Lindö was far from certain.
Eleonore Holmgren debuted as an author in 2021 with the novel The Last Summer. It is a warm and heartfelt portrayal of an elderly woman whose only wish is to spend one last peaceful summer in her beloved summer house. Once there, she encounters many challenges but also an unexpected friendship that blossoms and makes the last summer in Lindö very special.
The debut novel was loved by both readers and critics and was nominated for several awards, such as Feelgood of the Year at the Storytel Awards and Book of the Year 2022. Two sequels in the Lindö series have since been published: Britta’s Inheritance ( 2022) and The Way Home (2024), and Eleonore is now working on a new novel project in the same spirit. Eleonore lives in Uppsala with her husband and has two grown-up children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the summer house and gardening.
