If you are reading this, you have found my secret logbook. I, Elias Leijon – cryptozoologist and adventurer – swear that everything written in this book is true. If you choose to read it, you will enter a fantastic world inhabited by the wonderful creatures known as cryptids
The year is 1910. Twelve-year-old Elias attends the night marish boarding school Graybyholm. When Elias discovers a hidden book about cryptids, fantastic animals no one has ever seen, a plan begins to take form. He and his mother, the impoverished Baroness Miranda Leijon, strike a deal with his mother’s terrible but immensely wealthy sister. If they find proof that cryptids truly exist, they will be granted a mansion and finally be free to live as they wish – otherwise, Elias must return to Graybyholm, and Miranda will face an unwanted marriage.
It’s the beginning of a great adventure. Elias and Miranda’s hunt for the mythical cryptids becomes a dangerous journey that takes them across the globe – through scorching deserts, dense jungles, and bottomless swamps. But some one is on their trail …
Ida Kjellin’s story is brimming with adventure, suspense, and fantastic creatures, accompanied by atmospheric illustrations by Lina Blixt.

REVIEWS
“Hidden Beasts is a classic adventure tale filled with hidden enemies, grueling journeys, and, above all, the mythical monsters at the heart of their investigation. Yet the story also carries a deeper message—an echo of concern for the many real-life species that are vanishing from our planet. Set in the early 1900s, when the world was a different place, the book captures the spirit of the era with elegance. Ida Kjellin is a skilled writer who masterfully uses the tools of the adventure genre. Lina Blixt’s illustrations—complete with maps, vignettes, and informative spreads—bring the story to life and portray the cryptids in all their eerie glory.” Rating: 5/5
