THE CIRCUS PRINCESS (CIRKUSPRINSESSAN)

The Circus Princess is the second instalment in a sweeping historical saga inspired by the author’s own family history, spanning continents and the upheavals of the early twentieth century. It is a novel of impossible love, self-liberation, and the courage to choose one’s own path.
In a Europe reshaped by war and modernity, three lives will soon converge. After a devastating fire destroys the family circus, Baptista – the fiercely independent daughter of the legendary Bertha – refuses to remain in her mother’s shadow. She becomes an equestrian artist in Frankfurt, only to be sidelined by a brutal accident and forced to retrain as an instructor. Her journey carries her through Paris and Barcelona to Copenhagen, where love awaits. When her beloved horse dies after a performance at London’s Olympia, Queen Alexandra herself gifts Baptista a new stallion, propelling her into sudden fame.
Meanwhile, in Texas, brothers Manuel and Chuy Mijare leave their past behind to join the Ringling Brothers Circus. Amid the golden age of the big top, Manuel discovers love and identity beyond inherited constraints, as both brothers bear witness to social reform, women’s suffrage, and the lingering shadows of war.
In 1920s London, the three characters’ paths finally interweave. Between wars and collapsing hierarchies, their destinies converge in resistance, yearning, and the search for belonging, where new love and a new way of life may be possible.
