ROS & GARP: CONSUMED BY FIRE (MANNEN SOM BRANN)

Lotta Fritzdorf & Johan Rosenlind
April, 2026

It is summer in the holiday idyll of Halmstad when a burning car is discovered in a deserted area on the outskirts of the city. There is a man in the burning car. Despite heroic efforts by a few passers by the man dies in intensive care.

Detective Superintendent Ragnar Ros, on the verge of retirement, and Siri Garp Karlsson, a young Detective Inspector newly arrived in town, are thrown into a complex investigation where clues point in different directions. What begins as a routine investigation soon escalates into a tangled web of old grievances and brutal violence.

Meanwhile, Garp is struggling with a persistent ex, a former police colleague who refuses to leave her alone. Ros is trying to cope with the grief of his late wife, while also navigating his relationship with his grown-up daughters. Then, suddenly, one of them vanishes without a trace.

REVIEWS

“With their assured sense of character and dramatic structure, Lotta Fritzdorf and Johan Rosenlind deliver a fast-paced and utterly gripping crime novel. Consumed By Fire caught me from the very first page; its tone and style echo the very best of British TV crime dramas. I was immediately drawn to the slightly gruff Detective Superintendent Ragnar Ros and his sidekick, the energetic young police officer Siri Garp. The setting, Haverdal, near Halmstad on Sweden’s west coast, with its soft sand dunes and blue sea, creates a striking contrast to the darkness and intensity of the plot. The authors show a deep and genuine commitment to society’s most vulnerable, shedding light on power structures within both the family and the wider community. This gives the novel an uncommon depth, elevating it beyond the standard page-turner. Consumed By Fire is truly both thought-provoking and thoroughly entertaining.”
