WHEN THE GIANTS AWAKEN - CHANGELINGS BOOK 3 (NÄR JÄTTARNA VAKNAR)
Gustav Tegby
Stockholm is crumbling. After thousands of years, the giants resting under the city have started to stir in their sleep. Unless Dorian and his friends can find a way to stop their awakening, a new Ragnarök will follow.
Also, Dorian’s parents are devastated, the Faerie Bureau is in ruins, the great wolf Fenrir is on the loose, the giant seer Mimer is depressed, and the Army of Orphans are preparing a blood sacrifice that might just doom the world.
And somehow, just about all of this is Dorian’s fault. Is there no end to the amount of disasters a thirteen-year-old changeling can cause while trying to set things right?
So when Dorian is given a chance to leave his whole life behind and start anew, the temptation is almost overwhelming. Would anyone even miss him?
When the Giants Awaken is the third and final part of Changelings, a trilogy set in an enchanted version of contemporary Stockholm. It’s a world where beings from Nordic mythology live hidden among us, and the most mundane situations might turn out to be infused with magic. The first book in the series, Army of Orphans, was nominated for the Crime Time Awards in the Children/YA category, and the Children’s Novel Prize in Karlstad. Book two, The Longing Dead, was nominated for the 2023 Prisma Literature Prize for hbtqi+ books for young people.

REVIEWS
“[…] The lines are delivered with absolute pitch, timing, and linguistic vitality in this trilogy finale. The peculiarities and weaknesses that make us who we are, whether we are holding the book in our hands or are one of author Gustav Tegby’s masterfully crafted characters, are depicted with great care and insight. In When the Giants Awaken, laconic humor coexists with dark irony, and the exhilaration Dorian feels in Gabriel’s presence is contagious as their love story finally gets to blossom. For the world has not yet ended.” Rating: 5 of 5
