‘The Home’ premieres at SXSW

We are proud to announce that the film adaptation of Mats Strandberg’s horror novel The Home will premiere on the prestigious Sout by Southwest Film Festival in march 2017. With The Cruise coming out on SVT later in 2025, this is the fourth film or tv adaptation of Mats Strandberg’s work.
Mats Strandberg’s bestselling horror novel The Home has been adapted into a feature directed by director Mattias J Skoglund. It’s about Joel who reluctantly returns to his childhood town to help his mother Monika move into a home for people with dementia after she suffers a stroke. She is unrecognizable and Joel becomes convinced that something has followed her back from the other side.
Author Mats Strandberg’s books have been translated into 30 languages, and his novel The Conference was previously adapted for Netflix, where it reached the global viewer top list upon release. The screenplay for The Home is written by Mats Strandberg and director Mattias J Skoglund (Dough, Losers).
The film is produced by [sic] film in co-production with Gotlands Filmfond, SVT, Three Brothers, and Compass Films, with support from the Swedish Film Institute, Estonian Film Institute, Icelandic Film Centre, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Cultural Endowment of Estonia, Ministry of Culture and Business Affairs Iceland, Film & Television Reimbursement, in collaboration with Inland Film, LevelK, NonStop Winning Formula, and YLE. NonStop Entertainment is the Nordic distributor. Level K handles international sales.
