“I call myself Kid, and I dream of running away. There’s really only one thing I’ll miss: the neighbor’s cat.” This is how the story of Runaway Kid begins. Kid’s secret diary.

Kid’s life is a mess, and her mind is in chaos. Her only real comfort is the cat, Meow Meow. There are things her family doesn’t talk about — like her mom, for example. When a joke goes too far, and according to her dad and brother, she brings shame upon the family, Kid is placed in a foster home.

Runaway Kid is a contemporary and accessible story about loyalty, identity, and standing up for yourself. A reality-based tale with supernatural elements. Illustrations by Tone Lindholm.
