Among the dead are prominent researchers with ties to both the university and the Culinary Arts education program in Grythyttan.

The same night, a fire breaks out in an old cinema in the town Hallsberg. In the charred remains, the body of a young man is found in an air duct. Could it be Mattias who disappeared in 1986, the same year a girl was found dead on the railway tracks nearby?

A new police chief questions Kristoffer Bark’s task force of reassigned officers. Bark struggles to solve the murder case while also fighting for the group’s continued existence.
