THE MEMORY OF A NIGHTMARE (MINNET AV EN MARDRÖM)
Anna Jansson

Olov and Kristina are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary with a quiet getaway at their summer cottage. Late at night, a fierce fire suddenly erupts. Desperate to escape before the blaze engulfs them, they throw themselves out of the bedroom window but they do not survive. A dark figure is seen fleeing the scene.
Maria Wern and her colleagues at the Visby police are tasked with investigating the arson case. The elderly couple had run a clinic specializing in patients suffering from severe nightmares, using hypnosis and video recordings as part of the treatment. Now their daughter-in-law, Cornelia, also the clinic’s neurologist, is left to manage all the patients on her own.
Meanwhile, Maria’s relationship with her beloved Jonatan continues to deepen. But when she meets his sister, Sara, it becomes clear that Sara was one of Olov’s former patients, and that she is determined to recover the recordings from her therapy sessions, no matter what it takes.
Once again, Anna Jansson showcases her exceptional storytelling. The Memory of a Nightmare is a tight, atmospheric suspense novel grounded in something that affects us all: sleep.
